Project Overview
The “
SWISS SECOND”project seeks to identify imaging surrogates for long-term seizure outcomes using an integrated multi-modal imaging platform. Our team employs advanced in-house developed neuroimaging methodologies, including:
- Deep-learning-based structural brain analysis
- Echo Planar Spectroscopic Imaging for neurotransmitter profiling
- Simultaneous EEG-fMRI and non-BOLD fMRI
Your Profile
Key Responsibilities- Oversee day-to-day management of the clinical study, including participant recruitment, scheduling, and follow-up
- Ensure adherence to study protocols and regulatory frameworks
- Manage clinical, imaging, and metadata collection and documentation
- Prepare documents related to Swissmedic and Swissethics and take a leading role in the communication between investigators, ethics committees, Swissmedic, and external collaborators
- Coordinate and maintain documentation for device-related study approvals involving non-CE marked equipment
- Assist with grant reporting, progress updates, and manuscript preparation
Required Qualifications- either:
- Master's degree in neuroscience, biomedical sciences, clinical research, medical technology, or a related field
- Equivalent practical experience working in neuroimaging environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent communication abilities in English; proficiency in German is a strong advantage
- Familiarity with good clinical practice (GCP) frameworks

Working knowledge of Swissmedic regulatory processes, especially regarding research involving non-CE marked medical devices
- Experience working in a hospital or academic medical research setting
- Familiarity with REDCap data handling
- Experience in data analysis (R, SPSS) and scripting (Python, MATLAB)
- Previous work with patients with neurological disorders or in epilepsy research
What we offer
- Employment type: 60 %
- Start date: August 2025
- Duration: 4-year contract, with possible extension based on performance and funding
- Location: On-site at the Support Center for Advanced Neuroimaging (SCAN), Institute of Diagnostic and Interventional Neuroradiology, Bern University Hospital, Switzerland
